KIOSC

Scoresby Secondary College has a close partnership with the Knox Innovation, Opportunity and Sustainability Centre (KIOSC) which aims to inspire and empower today’s students to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours that will equip them for their future careers. KIOSC is a joint initiative between the schools in the Knox Network and Swinburne University.

KIOSC aims to connect students to their future roles in shaping a diverse and sustainable future. It helps students understand the world from the perspectives of environmental, economic and socio-cultural sustainability.

Students in junior levels travel to the KIOSC campus twice a year to undertake learning programs that emphasize practical learning experiences in the areas of sustainability and ‘green’ living. Furthermore these programs provide a window into the world of work linking a broad range of pathways in science, maths, technology, social sciences and humanities into integrated hands-on curriculum. These programs utilise the high technology platforms provided by KIOSC.

Senior students at Scoresby Secondary also access KIOSC’s high quality technology equipment to enhance their learning. Senior students can also access to a number of VET certificates including Laboratory Skills and Engineering (Megatronics). Through innovative learning experiences and strong connections with industry, KIOSC opens students’ eyes to the practical applications of classroom learning and the real world careers they lead to. The KIOSC Trade Training Centre program will maximise students’ employment potential, broaden their career aspirations and options and respond to local industry demands for more industry focused curriculum and training.
