Teaching skills for life, work and further study

At Scoresby, we teach the requirements of the Victorian curriculum framework and also focus on skills that will increase employability and success in the contemporary workplace and further study. These include skills in collaboration, independent learning, verbal and non verbal communication, and cross cultural communication. We strike a balance of around one third direct instruction, a third learning collaboratively with others and a third independent learning.

Collaborative learning involves working in groups and teams, encouraging problem solving and peer-to-peer learning through projects, feedback and reflective discussions.
Once students have grasped the basic concepts, we encourage them to consolidate this knowledge through individual tasks, exercises and projects to build skills in learning independently.
We ensure that our students have the key skills and knowledge for VCE and employability by the end of Year 10 which will give them a solid foundation to enter VCE or the workplace.
