Science

Science is a compulsory subject in years 7 – 10, covering the main ideas set out in the Science domain of the Victorian Essential Learning Standards.

The emphasis in Science is to develop curiosity about the things around us, and to investigate how things work. Students are shown the skills and processes of Science and they are encouraged to think about scientific issues in society.

Year 7 students have a core syllabus for 3 periods per week.

Years 8 and 9 have core studies for 4 periods per week. Year 10 students choose a minimum of two semester length units from the following list of Science electives:

  • Science in the Home
  • Electricity and Motion
  • Environmental Science
  • What Makes Us Who We Are?
  • Space, Rocks and Fuels
  • Sport Science
  • Active Science
  • Horticulture
  • Towards VCE Science
