Arts
The Art faculty offers a full range of subjects in the Arts learning area including Art, Music, Visual Communication, Drama and Media Studies. All of these subjects can be studied through to year 12. Art In the junior and middle school, students can develop their skills in different artistic areas, as we offer a variety of specialist electives such as printmaking, ceramics and drawing. At the V.C.E. level we run a Studio Arts program. In this subject the students have the flexibility to try different mediums and techniques as they work towards set outcomes. At this level of study the experience of pervious years practice in our specialised electives is invaluable, as it provides students with the appropriate foundation for the more rigorous demands of V.C.E. study. Media Studies Media is offered as an elective in Years 9 and 10. In year 9 students use SLR cameras, digital cameras and digital video to complete a range of assignments. In year 10 students refine these skills to create more complex productions. Media Studies is offered in VCE through to year 12. In year 11 students learn about media issues such as representation, Australian media organisations/ownership and new media. Year 11 gives students the opportunity to produce work in print, photography and video and study feature films. In Year 12 students study two film narratives, and focus on issues in the media such as media influence and social values. The SAT involves planning and producing a major production in video, print or photography. The media department has recently purchased 2 new digital video cameras and five digital still cameras. Music Music at Scoresby Secondary College is a course of study that runs from Year 7 through to V.C.E.
